Almost seven years ago, Jo started researching floral preservation using the freeze dry method. She was looking for another avenue to channel her creativity. Meanwhile, in a town not far away, Sarah also had a creative side that yearned to be expressed. Through the mutual friendship of their husbands, they met and started talking about starting a company together.
They opened their shop in June of 2005. They are the only floral shop in the area (which includes all of northwest Indiana and the Chicago suburbs) to offer floral preservation using the freeze dry method.
They use their combined creative talents to design custom silk pieces, as well as floral arrangements for weddings, funerals, showers, birthdays, or any other occasion for which fresh flowers are desired.
Both Jo and Sarahs tastes lean toward the Victorian era and they wanted their shop to have the feeling of stepping back in time. With the help of Jos husband, Scott, they built a full-scale Victorian porch inside the store adorned with hanging plants and birdcages. A rocking chair welcomes you home.
The kitchen area has an old fashioned charm with its antique table and china cabinet, both filled with giftware to tempt the visitor. Other antiques are scattered throughout the shop. An antique dress form sits atop a display case full of unique and elegant baby items. An antique gun case houses delightfully scented candles. More giftware is displayed on a mantel and an old trunk. The friendly atmosphere is free.
