Life’s Special moments are worth preserving.  Cherish those memories and capture the sentiments of your occasions by freeze drying your flowers and placing them in a beautiful display with personal mementos.

What is freeze-drying?  It is a preservation technique for preserving flowers while maintaining the natural shape and appearance of the flower.  The technique was originally created for the pharmaceutical and food service industry and has been adapted for the floral industry.  The process is known as sublimation, which occurs when a frozen liquid goes directly to a gas state.  This process occurs in a freeze dry machine that initially freezes the botanicals to minus 30 degrees.  Then a vacuum is applied to pull the moisture out in vapor form.  The vapor is transferred to a separate chamber and formed into ice.  The ice is then removed from the machine. Moisture is what causes the flower to decompose.  By removing this moisture, the flower is left in a preserved state.

Throughout this process, the botanicals are slowly returned to room temperature.  It is a slow process and cannot be rushed, taking anywhere from 15 to 20 days.  This does not include the pre-treatment, post-treatment or design time on the display. The results are worth the wait.

When the flowers are received in our shop, they are photographed and re-hydrated.  Then the bouquet or arrangement is carefully taken apart so that each flower can be pretreated with a chemical suitable for that type of flower.  This helps to lock in the color and enhance the texture and durability.  After the process, each flower is then post-treated to protect it from the environment.  Slight color changes may occur such as deepening of color, but over time the shades mellow, taking on a more antique or vintage appearance.

Once the flowers are freeze-dried they can be displayed in several different custom designed frames.  You can freeze dry and encase an entire bouquet, a miniature replica, a few flowers, or just a single flower.  The choice is yours.  The customer becomes part of the design process.

If freeze-drying your flowers is something you are considering, please keep in mind that we must receive your flowers as soon after the event as possible.  Damaged or wilted flowers will preserve damaged or wilted. Some flowers may be repaired or replaced with your permission.  We will tell you if the flowers are not in good enough condition to be preserved.  It does not serve our reputation to give you poor quality or service.  If possible, let us know before the event so that we can reserve space for you in our freeze-dryer.
